BMW releases special in-vehicle animation for Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

MANILA: As the United Kingdom prepares to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee, BMW has announced that millions of its vehicles across the UK will receive a royally jovial animation to embody the mood of the festivities.

The limited-edition animation takes BMW car owners from the Giant's Causeway to Tenby and the Scottish Highlands, concluding in a jubilant street party in London. Each scene will bring these places to life and encapsulate the spirit of the Platinum Jubilee.

The animation will be available to UK customers with vehicles equipped with Operating System 7 and 8 starting today, June 2, until Sunday, June 5.

A special banner will flash in the Control Display when the car is started. The full-screen celebratory animation begins when the banner is clicked, activating the program's crowning glory.

The BMW Group became one of the first carmakers in the world to offer Remote Software Upgrades in 2019. It can now update every line of programming code in all of its upgrade-compatible vehicles. Customers have the choice of adding functions as needed or activating them for a limited time.

BMW is continuously improving this offering with "BMW ConnectedDrive Upgrades," such as for driver assistance systems and comfort features. Over  3.3 million BMW vehicles with Operating System 7 and 8 are now upgrade-compatible, since the number of eligible vehicles increases with each new BMW model.
