C8 Chevrolet Corvette to come out on 18 July 2019, teaser video released

MANILA: C8 Chevrolet Corvette is one highly anticipated sports car in the automobile industry. However, Chevrolet is making sure that the worlds know about the car even before it is launched. In the quest of the same, the American automaker has released a 29-second long teaser video.

The video which features race car driver Zora Arkus-Duntov and the CERV I, an early prototype of a mid-engined Chevrolet has been given the title “Let’s Go: The Next Generation Corvette”. Unlike the C1 to C7 Corvettes, which featured a front-engine layout, the C8 or shall we say the eighth-generation Corvette will be boasting a mid-engine configuration.

Other prototypes like CERV II & CERV III and concepts like Aerovette and Corvette Indy have also been shown in the teaser video. Another prototype, the CERV IV, has been probably ditched deliberately because it features a different engine layout.

While there are no solid leaks that provide us with any kind of information regarding the mechanicals on the new Corvette, we expect the eighth-gen American beauty to come with a 6.2-litre V8 motor, called LT2. Transmission duties are very likely to be handled by a Tremec TR-9007 dual-clutch gearbox.

The C8 Corvette should become a part of the lineup as a 2020 spec model, and the current-gen C7 is said to be sold till 2022. For now, we eagerly await July 18th, 2019 for Chevrolet to pull the wraps off the C8 Corvette. How excited are you?
