Ford Edge L launches in China as large, luxurious SUV offering

MANILA: Ford offers the most models available when it comes to crossovers and SUVs. Anyone can find a high-riding model in the company's global selection. Enter the most recent launch from Ford of China.

Ford Edge L Exterior

There, Ford of China introduced the Edge L, which, at least in terms of design, can be akin to a stretched-out Territory. The 2023 Ford Edge L has the following dimensions: 5,000mm long, 1,961mm wide, 1,773mm tall, and a 2,950mm wheelbase. The Everest is 4,914mm long, 1,923mm wide, 1,842mm height, and has a 2,900mm wheelbase as a point of comparison. The Edge L is still a huge crossover even though it is not nearly as tall as the Everest.

The Edge L is actually unrelated to the new Territory, although sharing certain aesthetic cues with it. The Ford C2 platform, which also supports the Escape, Bronco Sport, and Maverick small pickup, serves as the foundation for the 2023 Ford Edge L. The Territory, on the other hand, is a result of the Ford-JMC collaboration.

Ford Edge L Interior

The 2023 Ford Edge L's interior includes a sizable 27-inch touchscreen that extends from the middle of the dashboard to the passenger side. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster also welcomes the driver. Less buttons are used because displays are used for the majority of controls. The space between the front seats is made available by a floating center console.

There are two different seating arrangements for the Edge L. While more opulent variants may accommodate seven guests, lower-spec vehicles can accommodate eight. Due to the middle row's inclusion of individual power-operated captain chairs, unique center storage bins, and dual wireless chargers in higher-spec models, this is the case for the seven-seater model.

Ford Edge L Powertrain

A turbo-hybrid that also uses a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine is one of the available powertrains. The hybrid variant produces 271 horsepower and 405 nm of torque, compared to the non-hybrid version's 249 horsepower and 378 nm. Also, Ford claims that under mixed driving situations, fuel consumption will be 16.4 kilometers per liter. Ford even claims that the Edge L can travel 1,188 kilometers without refueling.

Could the Ford Edge L arrive in the Philippines?

Since the current Ford Territory, another product Ford’s collaboration with a Chinese carmaker, is sold here, there is a slight chance the Edge L could arrive, too.
