Ford PH expands Ranger lineup with XL+ variant

MANILA: Ford Philippines has expanded its Ranger lineup with the addition of the new XL+ variant. 

As the name suggests, the new trim slots above the base XL grade and comes with “notable enhancements,” which are the following: 

• Rugged bed liner
• Convenient side steps
• Retractable cup holders 

Here are some of the benefits owners can expect from the accessories package that comes with the new model: 

Truck bed liner	Makes cargo loading easier; protects truck against damage, wear and tear; improves overall look, appearance
Side steps	Makes ingress, egress easier; protects exterior, interior from damage, dirt; enhances overall look
Cup holders	Offers more convenient storage of beverages, ensures truck is saved from spills, keeps interior tidy

Per the Blue Oval Brand’s local wing, owners of their iconic pickup truck previously had to order and install the aforementioned kits. But thanks to the new variant, they can enjoy the said accessories the moment their truck rolls out of the dealership. 

“We see that a number of our customers will go out of their way to have accessories like bed liners and side steps installed in their Ford Rangers,” Ford Philippines Retail Products Marketing and Business Growth Director Ryan Lorenzo noted. 

“This made us offer the Ranger XL+, which now comes equipped with both accessories, and more. Once Ranger customers step out of the dealership with their new Ford Ranger XL+, all they have to worry about is where to go for their next great adventure,” he added. 

The new Ford Ranger XL+ comes in with a sticker price of P1.279 million (just P10,000 more expensive than the XL variant) and is available in the following colors: 

• Absolute Black 
• Arctic White 
• Aluminum Metallic 

The new Ford Ranger XL+ improves upon the nameplate’s entry-level model, which is fitted with a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine mated to a six-speed transmission. It also gets a 4X4 drivetrain as well as a front suspension double wishbone chassis and rear suspension leaf spring that guarantees a smooth ride in almost all terrain.

It also turns heads with its black grille and reflector headlamps, while occupants riding inside the cabin will be pleased with its 10-inch colored portrait touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity. 

“Combined with the Ranger XL’s standard power, comfort, and safety features, the Ranger XL+ has become more functional with accessories useful during a work or leisure drive,” Ford wrote in a press release. 

More exterior, interior packages in the pipeline? 

The Ford Ranger XL+ is the second time this year that the company has offered its products with factory-installed accessories. 

Earlier this month, Ford Philippines launched the Everest Sport and Ranger Sport Special Edition trims, which come with blacked-out style upgrades. 

Like the new Ford Ranger XL+, the aforementioned Sport Special Edition grades only come with cosmetic upgrades and retain their core mechanical features. 

It is still early to tell if this will become a trend within the Ford lineup, as we have only seen two occasions of the carmaker offering its Filipino customers kitted versions of its products. But if the American auto brand plans to continue rolling out accessorized vehicles, we would love to see the Ford Bronco Outer Banks made available with the Black Appearance Package, like they do in the United States.
