Ford to upgrade HQ complex

MANILA: Ford is set to upgrade its complex in Dearborn, which will be completed by 2027.

According to Ford, the new Ford World Headquarters will be situated on the site of the former Ford Product Development Center, which opened in 1953.

“This is more than just a new building; it’s a catalyst for innovation and a physical symbol of our Ford+ transformation. To win in this new era, we must work more closely together than ever before,” the company’s executive chairman Bill Ford and chief executive officer Jim Farley noted in a letter sent to employees early this week.

According to them, the new headquarters will be twice the size of the current head office and is designed to accommodate double the number of employees.

While the majority of the facility is expected to be finished within the year (and its official inauguration scheduled in November 2025), work will continue through 2027 on a final section of the site.

Here are some notable bits of information about the new Ford World Headquarters.

Measuring more than 195,000 square meters (sqm), the new establishment will be made up of four floors that has an employee capacity of 4,000 individuals.

It will house the workspace for the following:

• Studios
• Garages
• Fabrication shops
• Conference rooms
• Individual workstations
• Open concept collaboration space
• Three tech-enabled courtyards

Aside from that, it is also planned to have:

• 12 acres of green space
• Nearly 15,000-sqm food hall

Meanwhile, the Ford Glass House — which was established in 1956 — shall be demolished.

Per Ford, once its teams have vacated the building, it will be decommissioned over the course of roughly 18 months to repurpose the site.

To note, the Ford Glass House is an 88,257-sqm establishment composed of 12 floors that has individual workstations and conference rooms, as well as 6,503-sqm lobby and a café space.
