Geely Auto sells 270k units globally in Jan. 2026

MANILA: Geely Auto kicks off 2026 with a strong sales performance, delivering a total of 270,167 passenger vehicles to customers worldwide in January. This global sales figure, the company says, is equivalent to a one percent year-on-year increase and a 14 percent increase compared to its global sales performance in December 2025. 

Out of the aforementioned figure, 124,252 units are new energy vehicles (NEV). Furthermore, a total of 60,506 units sold by the marque in January 2026 were made in markets outside mainland China. 

To note, Geely Auto has a lineup of brands around the world, the most notable of which are Geely, Lynk & Co, and Zeekr. 

Geely has seen the most global sales in the first month of 2026, with 82,900 NEV units and 134,448 internal combustion units sold. Lynk & Co also recorded 28,877 global deliveries in January 2026. 

Lastly, Geely Auto Group is targeting global sales of 3.45 million vehicles in 2026. The aforementioned includes a target of 640,000 units in international markets. 

Significance of PH market for Geely Auto

In light of its hefty global sales target, Geely Auto shared that the Philippines is an important component of its worldwide sales thrust. In fact, Geely Motor Philippines (GMP) is looking to sell a total of 7,000 units in 2026. 

To meet the said sales target, GMP is set to bring in more vehicles powered by its highly advanced Global Electric Architecture (GEA) platform. This includes the EX5 EM-i, which is touted for its flexibility in handling local driving conditions. 

The upcoming Geely EX5 EM-i is likewise a part of Geely Auto’s worldwide strategy that incorporates various modes of electrified mobility. Instead of putting all of its eggs in one basket, the brand’s global lineup is a diverse collection of battery electric vehicles (BEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and internal combustion models (ICE). 

Currently in the Philippines, GMP’s selection of cars includes the following: 

• Geely EX5 
• Geely Coolray
• Geely GX3 Pro
• Geely Emgrand
• Geely Okavango Elite

This lineup will soon be joined by the upcoming Geely EX5 EM-i, which will be introduced sometime in the first quarter of 2026. Its introduction will aid the company in reaching its sales target for this year. 

Geely EX5 EM-i: what we know so far

As of this writing, GMP has yet to publish the full specifications of the upcoming Geely EX5 EM-i. 

On the other hand, the Department of Energy (DOE) has already included some details for the PHEV model on its list of certified vehicles. On its DOE data sheet, the EX5 EM-i for the local market will utilize a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine paired with an electric motor. The said internal combustion component put out 98 horsepower (hp), while its electric motor can produce up to 214 hp.
