Mitsubishi L300 reaches 900k-unit production milestone in PH

MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has reached a major manufacturing milestone after rolling out its 900,000th L300 unit.

In a statement, the Japanese automaker’s local arm said the production milestone of its locally produced commercial vehicle reflects sustained growth driven by disciplined manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

According to MMPC, the milestone was achieved due to consistent demand for its locally assembled completely knocked-down (CKD) models, along with ongoing kaizen activities focused on optimizing production lines, improving efficiency, and strengthening quality within its manufacturing division.

“The 900,000-unit production milestone of the Mitsubishi L300 reflects the dedication of our people and our commitment to continuous improvement in manufacturing,” MMPC President and Chief Executive Officer Ritsu Imaeda said. “Through disciplined operations and teamwork across our organization, we have sustained production excellence while delivering vehicles that customers have relied on for many years.”

A household name among small and medium enterprises, logistics providers, and fleet operators, the Mitsubishi L300 is known for its durable build and practical cargo capacity, making it suitable for delivery operations and various business applications.

Its cost-efficient ownership further strengthens its appeal to buyers seeking a practical commercial vehicle.

Powertrain and Performance

The Mitsubishi L300 is powered by a 2.2-liter, 16-valve, double overhead cam, Euro 4-compliant, common-rail direct-injection turbocharged diesel engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission. It delivers:

• Maximum output: 97.8 horsepower
• Peak torque: 200 Newton-meters

Driver visibility is enhanced by a 100-millimeter increase in cab height, while its cargo area can accommodate up to a 1,215-kilogram payload.

The suspension system features independent wishbones with coil springs at the front and semi-elliptic leaf springs at the rear, helping ensure stability even under load.

Interior Features

Inside, the Mitsubishi L300 comes with an air-conditioned cabin, a white-lit analog gauge cluster, and a single-DIN audio system (MP3, tuner, auxiliary, and USB ports) paired with two speakers.
