Mitsubishi to revive Versa Van in PH?

MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) could be reviving the Versa van soon. 

Such speculation was after the Land Transportation Office released homologation papers for the nameplate not too long ago. 

For those unaware, the Mitsubishi Versa van is the passenger version of the famous L300 workhorse. 

According to the specifications released by the country’s land transport bureau, the model will be powered by a 2.5-liter, four-pot diesel mill that can go as fast as 150 kilometers per hour. 

The powertrain setup is enough to carry some 15 people, driver included. 

It measures 4,710 millimeters (mm) long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,695 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,555 mm and a ground clearance of 195 mm. 

The upcoming model rides on 15-inch wheels wrapped with 195/80 series road tires.

Mitsubishi L300 

The Mitsubishi L300 has been revered by many business owners and fleet operators alike for its dependability and reliability. 

It, however, uses a smaller engine with a displacement size of 2.2 liters that makes 97 horsepower and 200 Newton-meters of torque. This makes the forthcoming Mitsubishi Versa van a more capable vehicle for hauling people. 

Of course, the humble Mitsubishi L300 is equipped with the bare necessities, but we expect MMPC to fit the Versa van to be fitted with comfort and convenience features. 

It is not specified when the company will launch the said model, but it could coincide with the roll out of the Destinator, which was announced in the Philippines as the DST Concept.
