Mitsubishi reveals ‘Destinator’
Midsize SUV to be showcased at 32nd GIIAS, on its way to PH soon
MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has formally revealed the all-new Destinator.
Manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia, the aforementioned sport utility vehicle (SUV) is being is set to reach the Philippines, as well as other regions such as Vietnam, South Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.
In a statement, the Japanese automotive marque shared that the all-new Mitsubishi Destinator is developed under the product concept “Confidence Booster for Energetic Families.”
Photo from Munawar ChalilPer MMC President and Chief Executive Officer Takao Kato, the name Destinator was coined in the hopes that “to encourage families to embark on adventures in comfort.”
“This marks the third global strategic model born in Indonesia, following the Xpander crossover MPV and the Xforce compact SUV, and it will be marketed globally with a focus on the ASEAN region,” he mentioned.
“Our operations in Indonesia are a cornerstone of Mitsubishi Motors’ business, and by expanding the production and sales of the Destinator and other models, we are committed to contributing to the growth of the Indonesian automotive industry and the local economy, while delivering vehicles that inspire and delight customers around the world,” Kato added.
In a statement, the company said that the all-new Mitsubishi Destinator combines a “refined, authentic SUV design with a spacious, premium interior that ensures comfort for everyone on board. It also delivers powerful, exhilarating acceleration and safe, reliable driving performance across various road and weather conditions.”

Created under the design concept “Gravitas and Dynamism,” the all-new Mitsubishi Destinator showcases a commanding presence with its size complemented by a look similar to the Xforce (which is also started in Indonesia), thanks to its Dynamic Shield fascia design.
Among its key features are the following:
- Front nose with horizontal profile with honeycombed patterned grille
- T-shaped head- and taillamps
- Blacked out pillars
- 18-inch wheels with large-diameter wheels
- Chiseled fender flares
- Front and rear skid plates and side protectors
- Contoured tailgate
Inside, the all-new Mitsubishi Destinator welcomes occupants with a three-row seating configuration with generous space for seven individuals.
Other creature comforts that fit in the vehicle are:
- Panoramic sunroof and 64-color ambient lighting for a premium feel
- Ample storage and convenient utilities at every seat
- 12.3-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio and an eight-inch digital driver display enhance driving comfort
- Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium for an enjoyable sound experience
Under the hood of the all-new Mitsubishi Destinator is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline-fed MIVEC engine mated to a continuous variable transmission that can produce a peak of:

While adopting a front-wheel drive system, the all-new Destinator leverages Mitsubishi Motors’ all-wheel control technology.

Per MMC, the model will be showcased at the 32nd GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show on July 23, and sales will also commence on the same day.
