Mitsubishi to showcase Outlander PHEV’s sound system at OTOTEN2025

MANILA: The Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) will be displayed at the OTOTEN2025 — Japan’s largest audio and home theater festival.

Specifically, the aforementioned model will highlight the capabilities of its audio system — called “Dynamic Sound Yamaha Ultimate” — at the event to be held at the Tokyo International Forum (Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku) on June 21-22.

Jointly developed with Yamaha Corporation particularly for the said model, the sound system was released in October 2024 has the capability to dish out high resolution mid-high notes and tightened bass — and can even replicate the artist’s breath.

The audio setup comes with 12 speakers and dual amplifiers.

Further, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) shared that the sound correction function automatically adjusts the volume and sound quality according to the speed of the car and reduces the impact of road noise, ensuring you always have the best music experience in any driving conditions.

Other improvements in the vehicle since 2024 include:

• Sound insulation of the engine's operating sound when generating electricity has been improved
• Gaps in the door panels where the speakers are installed are filled to act as speaker boxes
• Rigidity of the speaker mounting parts has been increased to reduce unnecessary noise generation

Further, the company said that the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV’s EV cruising range has been extended thanks to an updated drive battery.

“This is our flagship model, which has been leading the PHEV category since it was sold in 2013 as the world's first SUV type 4WD PHEV. Based on the concept of ‘EV for everyday use, hybrid for long trips,’ this electric SUV offers the powerful, smooth and quiet driving unique to electric vehicles, allowing you to drive safely, securely and comfortably in various weather conditions and on various road surfaces,” MMC noted in a statement.

Aside from extended range and improved acceleration performance, the vehicle has been tailored with an upgraded interior and exterior design — among which is the adoption of:

• 12.3-inch smartphone-linked navigation system
• Ventilated seats 

To note, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation has dropped the Outlander PHEV in its local roster as seen in the company’s website.
