Geely Coolray is category bestseller in June

MANILA: The Geely Coolray SUV topped sales in the five-seater subcompact crossover category last June. This was based on reporting by member companies of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) and Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID).

Declared Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) President and CEO Mikihisa Takayama, “This is definitely a very positive development as every auto brand tries to bounce back during this post-ECQ period. We are very delighted of this outcome since it is mainly driven by one model, the Coolray, and only one showroom located in North EDSA.” 

The Coolray is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged direct injection gasoline engine, delivering 177hp and 255Nm – enabling it to reach 100kph from standstill in 7.9 seconds. Geely’s design team is composed of over 500 people working in five key studious: Shanghai, Coventry, Gothenburg, Barcelona, and California.

Meanwhile, Geely Philippines ranked 10^th in sales among all car companies here in the month of June, with 184 units combined sales of Coolray and the recently launched Azkarra (a 160% spike over its 70 units sold in May). This is the brand’s highest monthly sales record since January of this year. For the first half of 2020, Geely Philippines sold a total of 549 units.

“We expect Geely sales to improve further as we open new dealership outlets and further complement our product line up this year,” added Takayama.
