Honda Unveils Hydrogen-Powered Clarity FCV, Sales Commenced

MANILA: The Japanese automaker has just commenced sales of its newly introduced zero-emission car. Honda Clarity is the first of its kind vehicle, that runs on hydrogen and emits zero carbon emission. By keeping the consumer-focussed sedan in mind, the Japanese boffins have designed this hydrogen-powered car, which has now officially been rolled out in the Japanese market. The firm intends to sell approx 200 units in this fiscal year.

The basic module behind designing this car is to offer an affordable, environment-friendly and five-seat fuel-cell vehicle for a family. The cruising range offered with this hydrogen-powered car goes as far as 750 km with a full tank carrying 70 MPa of compressed hydrogen. With improved efficiency and cruising power, the company claims that the newly introduced Honda Clarity FCV reports a 30% raise in the performance when compared to the previous model onboard. It will take only 3 minutes of your precious time to refill the hydrogen tank. Carrying all these advanced features, Clarity FCV has put itself in the range of top-class cruising sedans offered with zero carbon emission.

The Japanese auto-giant has fitted an extensively high-powered output engine that generates a maximum power of 174hp and achieves a peak torque 300 Nm. The lately introduced zero-emission car is offered with an external power source, i.e. Power Exporter 9000. It’s a generator that can also be used to power-up your home for up to 5 days. The firm also believes that the energy used to power up its cars is also capable of powering your home as well, which eventually lets you save 5 days of electricity.

The firm has envisioned to initiate the trend of energy-saving automobiles in the shape of FCV cars. In India, Honda Motors has already proclaimed to introduce an entirely new lineup with new-energy automobiles. As per Takahiro Hachigo, Honda President, “We believe FCVs (Fuel Cell Vehicle) have the potential to become an alternative to gasoline-powered vehicles in terms of mobility and to address issues related to climate change.”

In order to popularize this newly introduced FCV car, Honda Motors has planned to lease sales to the Environment Ministry, local government organizations or its previous business partners. Eventually, it will help to raise the demand and popularity of the zero carbon emission car. The Honda Clarity price starts from 7.66 million yen or USD 67,510. It is now available for Japanese enthusiasts and soon will be approaching the United States and European markets by the end of this year. With the introduction of Honda Clarity FCV, we are quite hopeful that Honda Philippines will also bring this environment-friendly car to the Philippines market in sometime soon.
