Hyundai Venue launched in India, will the Philippines get it too?

MANILA: The automotive blogs have been full of news stories about the Hyundai Venue. Everything from sketches and spy shots to the final unveiling of the SUV has been doing rounds on the internet of late. And recently, Hyundai launched its newest SUV in India. Available in elven variants, the Hyundai Venue sits right below the Creta in the South Korean automaker’s SUV lineup.

Starting with the exterior, the Hyundai Venue stands 3995 mm long, 1770 mm width, and 1605 mm tall. The SUV also comes with the Hyundai’s signature cascading chrome front grille. Following the trend, the Venue also houses its headlamps in the front bumper with LED DRLs and turn signals residing above them one either corner of the hood. Looking at the side profile,

a rather bold shoulder line runs from the front quarter panel to the taillights at the rear. The dual-tone alloys and roof-rails further enhance the muscular appeal. At the rear, the square-ish wrap-around taillights along with the shark fin antenna contribute to the looks. There also skid plates both at the front and rear for the off-road ready feel.

On the mechanical front, the Hyundai Venue comes with three engine options. The two gasoline-fed engines are a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated motor that makes 83 PS & 115 Nm and a 1.0-litre turbocharged mill that churns out 120 PS & 220 Nm. The third engine is a 1.4-litre diesel-fed motor that can pump out 90 PS & 220 Nm.

While the 1.2-litre gasoline comes coupled with a five-speed manual transmission, the 1.4-litre diesel gets a six-speed manual unit. The 1.0-litre turbocharged gasoline mill, on the other hand, can be coupled with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

Speaking of the features inside the Hyundai Venue, we have stuff like an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, wireless charging, and electric sunroof among with other amenities. The Hyundai Venue is also the first connected in India and features an eSIM that enables the owner to remotely start the car, operate sunroof, track vehicle’s location, and enable geo-fencing.

The Hyundai Venue gets up to six SRS airbags depending on the variant. Other significant safety features present on the SUV are ABS with EBD, ESC (electronic stability control), Hill Assist control, and VSM (vehicle stability management). Hyundai has given the Venue a price tag that starts at ₹ 650,000 (roughly Php 489,281) and goes all the way up to ₹ 1.1 million (around Php 835,600).

With the India launch done and dusted, we hope Hyundai to bring the Venue in the Philippine market as well. This should also make the Venue the cheapest SUV by the South Korean automaker in the country. If and when launched in the Philippines, the Venue will sit below the Kona and lock horns with the likes of Ford EcoSport, Ssangyong Tivoli, and others.
