Hyundai’s Le Fil Rouge Concept committed to golden-ratio displayed at Geneva
MANILA: It’s the day one of the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show, and we are already seeing some fantastic production models and concepts. One such four-wheeled beauty that caught our attention was standing at the South Korean automaker Hyundai’s booth. Called the ‘Le Fil Rouge', the concept displays a design language that connects the dots from the past, present, and future.
According to the brand, the new concept is inspired or shall we say is a 'reinterpretation' of the 1974 Hyundai’s Pony Coupe Concept that is responsible for many Hyundai past production models design philosophy.
Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center, Luc Donckerwolke, explained the thought behind new concept saying that ‘Building on our long history of creating a distinctive and sporty character in vehicles, we'll open a new era for Hyundai design. Our goal is to build a beloved brand by creating vehicles with heightened emotional value to reshape the landscape of car design.’
Here are some highlighting points about the Hyundai’s new Le Fil Rouge concept -
1. The French word ‘Le Fil Rouge’ stands for ‘common thread’ and reflects the brand’s belief that all its ‘past, present and future’ designs are connected.
2. Hyundai has adopted the ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ theme that is known for its signature wide hood and cascading grille. Hyundai earlier applied the same theme on Kona and new Santa Fe.
3. The golden-ratio proportion character (a common mathematical ratio) is more than visible on the concept in features like - long wheelbase, large wheels, and short overhangs.
4. Offering a comfortable driving position and enhancing the overall aesthetic, the concept features a generous dash-to-axle distance and teardrop roofline
5. A new approach called the ‘Light Architecture’ is integrated by the brand on the car’s front and rear pillars, and roof. It gives the vehicle a dynamic look along with a forward motion effect.
6. The interior and exterior design blends with one another seamlessly, thanks to Hyundai’s ‘Tube Architecture’.
7. The cabin design concentrates on creating a comfortable, calm, and spacious environment for the occupants.
8. Two-way ventilation system, high-tech upholstery, wood trim, and ample legroom are few of its offerings on the inside.
9. On the tech front, there’s a panoramic floating touchscreen display that provides the driver with all necessary and entertainment control access.
A combination of style, architecture, proportion and technology, Hyundai’s Le Fil Rouge concept is undoubtedly different and impressive. We can’t wait to see a production model inspired by the brand’s new design philosophy.
