MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has launched the all-new Outlander plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) for the local market. It is the Japanese marque’s best-selling nameplate in Japan and Canada, and it is touted as striking a good balance between comfort and performance.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much horsepower and torque can the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV produce?

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV can produce up to 301 horsepower and 450 Newton-meters of torque.
  • What is the introductory price of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV?

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is available with an introductory price of P2.749 million until September 30, 2026.
  • The brand also shared that the all-new model offers prospective buyers “The Power of Both Worlds.” This references Mitsubishi’s sport utility vehicle (SUV) expertise combined with its advanced PHEV technologies.

“The all-new Outlander PHEV is MMPC’s new SUV flagship model. It will be available through authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealerships nationwide starting August 20, 2026,” MMPC President and Chief Executive Officer Ritsu Imaeda said.

“We invite you to visit our dealerships to experience our latest electrified flagship SUV and discover The Power of Both Worlds,” Imaeda added.

    Powertrain

Propelling the all-new Outlander PHEV is a 2.4-liter gasoline MIVEC engine paired with front and rear electric motors. Power is sent to all four wheels through the Japanese manufacturer’s Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system.

At maximum, the said powertrain can generate up to 301 horsepower and 450 Newton-meters of torque. Per Mitsubishi, it also has a combined driving range of almost 1,000 kilometers (km), as well as an electric-only range of 100 km. Topping up the model is done via a Type 2 alternating current (AC) plug.

For optimal performance, the Outlander’s PHEV system can automatically pick between all-electric driving or gasoline power. This ensures optimal performance without sacrificing efficiency.

On the other hand, the vehicle also offers several EV-specific drive modes, including normal, save, charge, and EV priority. These correspond to the vehicle’s main drive modes (normal, economy, sport) and its terrain modes (tarmac, gravel, snow, mud).

Providing ride quality and stability for the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV are a front MacPherson strut and a multi-link rear suspension system. Stopping power, meanwhile, is provided by front and rear 18-inch ventilated disc brakes.
