Mitsubishi PH earns various recognitions at Santa Rosa, Laguna GREEN Awards

MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) earned various recognitions at the recent GREEN (Guarantee the Restoration of the Environment and our Ecological Niche) Awards held by the City Government of Santa Rosa, Laguna. 

Organized together with the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, the annual awards recognize public and private organizations that have made significant contributions toward environmental protection, sustainability, and climate action.

Sowing sustainability 

Due to the company’s various initiatives, continued efforts to go beyond regulatory compliance, as well as the integration of sustainable practices into its manufacturing operations, MMPC received the following awards: 

• Special Award of Recognition for Environmental Sustainability and Stewardship 
• Sustainable Development Award 
• Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Award 
• Earth Hour Advocate 

Present to receive the honors were MMPC Manufacturing Executive Vice President Manabu Higuchi; Manufacturing Senior Vice President Reynaldo Gabay; Safety, Health and Environment Vice President Marfel Ancheta; and Government Affairs Vice President Victor Vinarao.

According to MMPC, the City Government of Santa Rosa underscored that environmental protection is a shared responsibility, emphasizing that lasting progress can only be achieved through the combined efforts of government, businesses, organizations, and the community. 

“MMPC remains committed to supporting initiatives that contribute to a cleaner environment and a more sustainable future, recognizing that economic growth and environmental responsibility must go hand in hand,” the auto firm wrote in a press release. 

Locally-built HEVs 

MMPC’s strides in sustainability go beyond traditional corporate social responsibility efforts, although the local wing of the Japanese carmaker has rolled out several projects like its Balik-Baterya Scholarship Program and a three-phased forestation project sometime in 2023; as well as a massive forest preservation activity spearheaded by the Carmelray Industrial Corporation, where MMPC subsidiary Asian Transmission Corporation participated. 

Not too long ago, MMPC reinforced its commitment to environmental conservation with the upcoming addition of a hybrid electric vehicle plant in the country. Here, electrified vehicles will roll out the production line and help reduce the carbon footprint of automobiles plying our roads, but also boost the local automotive industry. 

At the time of writing, the only new-energy vehicle in its roster is the upcoming Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.
