Kia collaborates with K-POP BlackPink to connect with music fans

MANILA: Kia Motors has collaborated with ‘Black Pink’, the all-girl band from South Korea. The car manufacturer is now one of the official sponsors for the band’s world tour. Reports based on various sources say that the automaker went into this partnership in order to market its latest models globally with a modern approach.

This, however, is not the first time that an automaker has promoted a band in this way. The news of this collaboration and sponsorship came just a few months after Hyundai’s announcement of collaborating with BTS, a Korean musical boyband to promote its SUV Palisade. Talking about the Black Pink all-girl band, it is a four-member group and has the highest number of subscribers as a girl-channel on YouTube (over 17 million). The band made its debut with the song “Whistle” in 2016.

The world tour starts from January 2019 and is expected to cover a total of seven cities in Asia including Hong Kong and Bangkok. The global tour will also cover the Philippines, hopefully on February 2, 2019. Throughout the tour, Kia will organise a bunch of exciting events which include giving the local fans a chance to meet their favourite pop stars and receive gifts such as signed music CDs. Kia will also provide transport support to Black Pink members during the tour and will also feature the Stinger’s performance via promotional videos.

As per the media reports, Kia will also make special booths at each stop during the tour to display its latest vehicles. There will be exclusive photo zones to engage more and more customers. The partnership will boost the automaker in seeking engagement with music fans. Some media outlets have broken the news that in the coming months, the company will make additional partnerships with various Korean POP artists.
