Made-in-India Ford Figo sedan facelift unveiled
MANILA: The American car manufacturer, Ford has revealed the sedan counterpart of the Figo for the international markets. The Figo sedan is a longer version of the Aspire compact sedan (made only for India), manufactured at the Ford’s Sanand plant in Gujarat, India.
The Figo sedan facelift gets tweaked on the outside as well as from the inside. Up front, it gets a new grille with a chrome periphery, bigger headlamps, and uniquely-styled fog lamps. At the rear, the bumper gets a refreshed design with the blackened lower section. The tail lights look similar to that on the Aspire though.
Inside, the changes are inspired by the Figo Freestyle, which is a cross-hatch housing more powerful engine under the bonnet. The Figo sedan gets a completely new dash with a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and Ford’s Sync 3 system. It comes with tech compatibility features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto taking care of the passengers’ entertainment needs. To be noted that the touchscreen is limited to only a few markets around the globe.
Under the hood, the Figo sedan gets two engine options, 1.2-litre and 1.5-litre, three-cylinder petrol engines. The former engine is a part of the company’s Dragon series that can also be seen fitted on the new Ford Freestyle. The 1.2-litre engine is a naturally aspirated engine that produces a max power of 96 PS and a peak torque of 120 Nm. It will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox as standard while there is a possibility of an optional 6-speed automatic transmission as well.
Since the Ford Figo sedan is meant for exports, we can expect it to arrive at the Philippines shores soon. Stay tuned as we’ll keep you posted about the forthcoming.
