Major Highlights of MIAS 2017

MANILA: Manila International Auto Show, the name says it all. Being held in Manila gives it the status of one of the country’s major events and the word ‘auto’ explains its worth for auto junkies and potential buyers. Before discussing the major highlights of the event, we’d first like to brief you up a bit. The 2017 MIAS is the 13th edition of the said show and it witnessed some of the best showcasing of all times. As many as twenty automakers participated who brought their latest and updated creations. Spectators can find cars from manufacturers like Jeep, Volvo, Dodge, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Ram, Volkswagen, Foton, Hyundai, Mazda, Haval, Mitsubishi, Tata, Subaru, Chevrolet, JAC, Mahindra, Great Wall, Honda, and Jinbei. However, of all the automakers, it’s Honda that gained a lot of attention @ MIAS17 as the brand entered the show after over a decade.

There is a lot that happened at the Manila International Auto Show and from a wide range of showcases and launches, we have listed top 5 highlights of the show which gained significant attention from the spectators.

1. Mercedes-Benz AMG GT-S

The car that attracted everybody's attention at the auto show was the yellow colored Mercedes AMG GT-S. Standing on the wooden platform, this beast looked stunning and spectators were wowed by its glory. With the said car, Mercedes celebrated 50-years completion of its AMG series. Moving on to the technical stuff, the car is powered by a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 mill that gives 529 PS of power along with a stunning top speed of 310 kmph.

2. Honda Civic Type R

The car that created a hell of a hike in the Philippines market was Civic Type R. Though, it witnessed its global debut in Germany, for Filipinos MIAS is the meeting point with this masculine and powerful sibling of the classic Civic. And it’s not just the exterior or cabin that has been revised with some aggressive styling but the engine area has undergone some serious up-gradation too. Civic Type R carries a 2.0-litre engine that’s paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

3. Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat

After the Mercedes yellow beast, it’s time to dip in some hot & spicy red retreat. We are talking about Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat that’s by far the most powerful car at the 2017 MIAS. Its HEMI supercharged Hellcat mill produces a maximum output of 717 PS along with a peak torque of 881 Nm. In its list of power attributes, is also present the capability of chasing 97km/h from a halt in 3.6 seconds and a maximum speed of 320 km/h.

4. Hyundai Genesis G90

After seeing the powerful, rough & tough automobiles it’s now time for some elegant and luxury prone car. We are talking about the South Korean automaker, Hyundai’s flagship sedan, Genesis G90. From its exterior to interior everything touch, smell and feel luxurious and the car has also got some great high-tech features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, two 9.2-inch rear seat display, three-zone climate control, wireless smartphone charging and much more. It is powered by a 425 PS producing 5.0-liter V8 mill and is priced at Php 7528000.

5. Volvo S90

The last car we’ll be talking about has come all the way from Sweden, it’s the all-new Volvo S90. The automaker has put on display D4 trim of the said model that showcases great body language and cabin amenities. Under its hood rests a 2.0-litre turbo diesel mill churning out a maximum power of 193 PS along with 400 Nm of peak torque. This stunning beauty is put down for sale at Php 4,195,000.
