MG Motor PH rolls out all-new HS Hybrid+

MANILA: Morris Garages (MG) Motor Philippines has launched the all-new HS Hybrid+. The aforementioned model is a follow-up to the AS23 first-generation model that was once positioned just above the MG ZS in terms of price and features. 

On that note, the all-new MG HS Hybrid+ promises to provide a cushy ride, loads of tech, and safety equipment. More importantly, it elevates the nameplate into the coding-free, electrified ride that promises considerable fuel efficiency.

So, what can buyers expect from the all-new MG HS? Let’s find out here. 

Powertrain

Propelling the next-generation HS Hybrid+ is a 1.5-liter inline-four turbocharged gasoline mill paired with an electric motor and a 1.8-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery. 

At its peak, the said powertrain can produce up to 220 horsepower (hp) and 340 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. The said engine is paired with a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission that sends power to the model’s front wheels. Likwise notable is the vehicle's total range of 1,000 kilometers (km).

For ride quality and stability, the model uses a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear end. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes for all four wheels. Power is also optimized by an eight-option drive mode selector.

Exterior

On the outside, the all-new crossover bears the same design language as the MG ZS Hybrid+. This means it sports a large grille, a pair of sharp LED headlamp clusters, and a slick-looking silhouette with minimal black plastic claddings. 

For added convenience, the newly launched model also has a power tailgate, rain-sensing wipers, roof rails, automatic LED headlamps, and headlamps with follow-me-home function. For extra fun under the sun during long road trips, it also has a panoramic sunroof. Completing the look of the all-new MG HS Hybrid+ is a set of 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Alenza tires.

Interior

Inside the MG HS Hybrid+ is a five-seater layout equipped with leather upholstery. The aforementioned is paired with an elegantly styled dashboard filled with soft-touch surfaces and a pair of 12.3-inch, seamlessly connected digital displays. 

The said screens function as the vehicle’s infotainment system and digital gauge cluster. For the infotainment screen, smartphone connectivity is handled by wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other noteworthy comfort features of the MG HS Hybrid+, include, but are not limited to: 

• Dual-zone automatic climate control
• Six-way power-adjust driver’s seat
• Four-way power-adjust front passenger seat
• Wireless smartphone charging pad
• Driver memory position system
• Rear privacy glass

The driver also has access to a flat-bottom, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a push-to-start button, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. 

Safety

Like other crossovers sold in the market today, the MG HS Hybrid+ comes kitted out with a comprehensive basic safety kit. The aforementioned is reinforced by the MG Pilot suite of advanced driver assist systems (ADAS), which consists of: 

• Adaptive cruise control
• Autonomous emergency braking
• Intelligent speed limit
• Lane departure warning
• Lane keep assist
• Traffic jam assist
• Forward collision warning
• Intelligent high-beam control
• Blind spot monitoring
• Rear cross traffic alert and braking
• Front cross traffic alert and braking
• 360-degree view camera

To note, MG Motor PH says that the HS Hybrid+ has already received a five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) and the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP). 

Price

The all-new MG HS Hybrid+ starts at P1,398,888, with an introductory price of P1,388,888.
