PH-spec Mitsubishi Destinator breaks cover

MANILA: The wait is over as Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) formally launched the all-new Destinator for the local market.

In a statement, the Japanese automaker’s distributor in the country said that the latest addition to its lineup is positioned as a “ready-for-anything, do-more partner for growing and adventure-driven Filipino families” — saying that the model offers the premium feeling of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and the practicality of a multi-purpose vehicle.

“The all-new Mitsubishi Destinator is built around three core promises that define its character — confidence, capability, and prestige. Together, these design principles make this vehicle not just a family SUV, but a statement of purposeful progress — a vehicle truly destined for more,” the company noted.

The numbers are somehow similar to the Montero Sport.

Outside, the vehicle comes with contemporary aesthetics. Its Mitsubishi Xforce-like fascia features the Dynamic Shield design and T-shaped illumination for the front and rear. These portions match the flowing character lines and the 18-inch machine-cut two-tone alloy wheels.

For its cabin, the all-new Mitsubishi Destinator is packed with a suite of premium amenities that come in the form of:

• Monolithic display panel made up of a 12.3-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity; smart rearview mirror and eight-inch cluster gauge
• 64-color ambient lighting in both front and rear
• Panoramic sunroof
• Eight-speaker Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium Audio System

Other creature comforts that can be found in the vehicle are seatback tables on the second row, Nanoe X air purification system, and a console box with cooling function.

Powering the all-new Mitsubishi Destinator is the newly developed 1.5L 4B40 turbocharged engine that can dish out

Mated to a continuous variable transmission, the aforementioned mill also boasts five drive modes namely Normal, Wet, Gravel, Mud, and Tarmac (new).

The launch of the Destinator also paved the way for the local debut of the Mitsubishi Connect.

Prior to the model unveiling, the vehicle also received a five-star safety rating from the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) — which can attributed to its host safety and driver-assistive technologies that include:

• Four airbags
• Electronic stability control
• Anti-lock braking system
• Seatbelt reminder system for front and rear occupants
• Pedestrian protection
• ISOFIX for child safety seats across all variants
• Autonomous emergency braking for inter-urban and city
• Forward collision warning
• Blind spot detection for both driver- and passenger-side doors
• Automatic high beam
• Lane departure warning

Aside from that the vehicle also has Mitsubishi Motors Safety Sensing with a multi-around view monitor.

Every vehicle is packaged with three-year standard warranty and the additional two-year extended warranty coverage. Early adopters will also enjoy a of Destinator Adventure Gear merchandise if they have pre-ordered a unit.

Additionally, MMPC said that those who will place a reservation during the four-day launch shall receive an additional P5,000-discount on top of the introductory price promo.
