Mitsubishi Destinator gets LTO nod

MANILA: It seems that the Mitsubishi Destinator will be formally introduced in the Philippines sooner than we expected.

This as the Land Transportation Office (LTO) released documentations about the aforementioned sport utility vehicle (SUV), revealing notable bits of information about it.

The said paperworks were released weeks after Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) showcased the model in its social media page via a 10-second video — sans the admission for its local launch.

Here are the details about the Mitsubishi Destinator based on the LTO documents.

As stated in Memorandum Circulars MC-VDM-2025-4687 and 4688, the Mitsubishi Destinator measures:

The seven-seater model is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine mated to a continuous variable transmission, which, based on the two LTO papers, allows it to go as fast 180 kilometers per hour.

Such a mill configuration can reportedly dish out:

Maximum output (in horsepower)	161
Peak torque (in Newton meters)	250

Further, the registered Mitsubishi Destinator sits on 18-inch wheels wrapped in 225/55 tires.

The Mitsubishi Destinator will be available in two trims, namely:

• GLS
• GT

In Indonesia (where it was first revealed globally), the vehicle is fitted with:

• Front nose with horizontal profile with honeycombed patterned grille
• T-shaped head- and taillamps
• Blacked out pillars
• 18-inch wheels with large-diameter wheels
• Chiseled fender flares 
• Front and rear skid plates and side protectors
• Contoured tailgate 

Possibly outfitted in the Mitsubishi Destinator for the country are creature comforts such as:

• Panoramic sunroof and 64-color ambient lighting
• Ample storage and convenient utilities at every seat
• 12.3-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio and an eight-inch digital driver display enhance driving comfort
• Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium

Although utilizing a front-wheel drive system, the all-new Mitsubishi Destinator features an all-wheel control technology with five drive modes namely:

• Wet
• Tarmac
• Normal
• Gravel
• Mud

Driver assistive and safety technologies that are likely present in the soon-to-be-retailed Mitsubishi Xpander are:

• Active Yaw Control
• Traction control 
• Suspension system designed for the ASEAN market
• Adaptive Cruise Control
• Forward Collision Mitigation system
• Blind Spot Warning 
• Rear Cross Traffic Alert
• Automatic High Beam
• Leading Car Departure Notification
