MIAS 2019: MG 6 fastback sedan launched at Php 1,068,888

MANILA: We recently covered a story on what we expect from MG, or shall we say Morris Garages at the 2019 Manila International Auto Show. Not disappointing a bit, MG has launched the fastback sedan MG 6 in the Philippines. If you’re interested, here is another piece that we did about our expectations from the sedan. Let’s address the elephant in the room now.

Dipped in a sexy shade of red, the MG 6 at the MIAS Wired 2020 looked beautiful if nothing else. The fastback shape of the car provides it with that extra flair to outclass other vehicles in the same segment. Up front, a bold chrome grille is flanked by a pair of projector type headlamps which also have built-in LED DRLs while the fog lamps have been placed on either end of the front bumper.

A grey skid plate not only provides the MG 6 with a rugged look but also enhances the muscular appeal of the sedan. A sleek fastback tailgate with upswept LED taillights on either end makes up the rear end of the car. The MG 6 rides on chic, 18-inch two-tone alloys.

The inside of the MG 6 is as modern and appealing as the outside thanks to the 7-inch virtual instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Leather seats, soft-touch materials, sun-roof, and latest tech like Apple Carplay all play their part in making the MG 6 a premium-like sedan. Coming to the mechanical aspects of the sedan,

the MG 6 derives its power from a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. This motor is capable of producing a maximum power of 169 PS and a peak torque of 250 Nm. Power delivery to the wheels is done by a seven-speed automatic transmission and there is no manual gearbox on offer.

Safety features on the MG 6 are plenty including six SRS airbags, anti-lock braking system, hill start assist, cornering brake control, traction control, electronic brake distribution, tyre pressure monitoring system, and electronic brake assist. Alpha and Trophy, the two trims of the MG 6 come with a price tag of Php 1,068,888 and Php 1,188,888, respectively.
