MIAS 2024: GAC Motor PH unveils Emkoo Hybrid

MANILA: GAC Motor Philippines has launched the Emkoo Hybrid.

Formally revealed to the public at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) 2024, the Astara-led firm debuted its first hybrid model in the country by displaying it at the two venues of the automotive expo.

"The launch of the GAC Emkoo Hybrid at the Philippines' premier automotive event underscores our commitment to introducing top-tier GAC vehicles to the market. This hybrid model reflects GAC's forefront position in hybrid technology and highlights GAC's dedication to providing versatile mobility solutions tailored to different lifestyles and needs," GAC Motor Philippines Brand Head Franz Decloedt was quoted as saying.

Similar to its internal-combustion-engine powered version, the crossover continues to wear the nameplate’s distinct sharp and futuristic elements. The difference starts from under the hood, as it now comes with a fully parallel hybrid system that delivers better mileage and value for mobility.

GAC Emkoo Hybrid runs on a 2.0-liter engine mated with a two-speed hybrid transmission, which has a peak churn of 140 horsepower and 180 Newton-meters of torque. Its electric motor has the capacity to produce134 kilowatts and 300 Newton-meters of torque.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the company noted that the vehicle can do 22 kilometers per liter. GAC Motor’s local arm announced that it will also be exempted from the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (more commonly known as number coding) in Metro Manila.

 Among its driver assistive features are the adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane keep assist to complement the numerous technological innovations.

While the covers have been removed, GAC Motor Philippines said that the Emkoo Hybrid will be available for purchase in the Philippines by June. Its pricing and other features will be provided closer to its retail launch.

Other displays

Aside from the Emkoo Hybrid, GAC Motor Philippines also highlighted two of its newest offerings, the all-new M8 and M6 Pro alongside the GS3 Emzoom, Empow, and GS8.

Exclusive offers and deals on the aforementioned models are also offered to eventgoers for the whole four days inside its booth and at all of its authorized dealerships nationwide.

Each vehicle purchased is packaged with a five-year or 150,000-kilometer aftersales warranty.
