Mitsubishi Chairman Osamu Masuko resigns for health reasons
MANILA: Osamu Masuko, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation Chairman of the Board and Representative Executive Officer, has resigned from his post last August 7 due to health reasons.
Masuko joined Mitsubishi in 1972 and was promoted to Senior Vice President 21 years later before becoming the company President in 2007. He became the CEO and Chairman of the Board in 2018.
Under Masuko, Mitsubishi introduced advanced eco-friendly vehicles such as EV and PHEV and expanded production and sales in the ASEAN region. He was in the Philippines several times including in 2017 to present President Duterte with the ceremonial model of the locally produced Mirage G4 under the CARS (Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy) program in Malacañang.
Member of the Board, Representative Executive Officer, and Chief Executive Officer Takao Kato will temporarily assume the duties of the chairman.
Masuko will remain with Mitsubishi as a special advisor.
