Mitsubishi Ralliart announces comeback in PH at PIMS 2022

MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) announced the comeback of its Ralliart brand at the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). The Ralliart versions of Mitsubishi Strada and Mitsubishi Montero Sport were unveiled at the event.

Mitsubishi Ralliart was introduced in 1983 as the Japanese carmaker’s performance division, marking the brand’s entry in motorsports. Last year, Mitsubishi Thailand relaunched Ralliart as a brand for the rally-inspired and factory cosmetic upgrades on its models.

Mitsubishi Ralliart competed in the Dakar Rally 26 times from 1983 to 2009. Mitsubishi entered motorsports so they could  test the durability of the four-wheel drive system and improve overall handling. Their participation resulted in an incredible total of 12 wins, seven of which were consecutive.

Mitsubishi Ralliart also participated in the World Rally Championship (WRC) from 1967 to 2005. Its Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system was able to showcase its capabilities over ice, snow, gravel and tarmac, leading to 34 WRC overall victories.

Mitsubishi Ralliart also competed in various motorsports events from 2012 to 2015 to see the potential for the next generation of electric vehicle mass-production technology.

The Montero Sport Ralliart includes red mud flaps, a Ralliart decal on the rear quarter, and blacked-out roof, grille, tailgate spoiler, and wheels. The Strada Ralliart gets the same Ralliart treatment, but with a different set of black wheels and a Ralliart bedliner.

The Strada Ralliart will be Mitsubishi's entry at the 2022 Asia Cross Country Rally in November.

Mitsubishi's PIMS 2022 booth also features the Outlander PHEV, L300, Mirage G4, and the new Xpander.
