New 2017 Hyundai Elantra makes Global Debut: 2015 LA Auto Show

MANILA: The Korean automaker launched its sixth generation Hyundai Elantra at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The company claims that the new Elantra is robust and offers amazing aerodynamic design styling. The 2017 Elantra is inspired from the concept of dynamic precision and comes fitted with a re-profiled hexagonal chrome grill, HID headlights, a revamped front bumper, C-shaped fog lights, and vertical LED daytime running lamps. Elantra also offers loaded pack of front wheel air curtains and modern components inspired from the Sonata Hybrid.

The exterior dimension measuring 4572mm in length, 1801mm in width and 1435mm in height gives the car a bold look. The new Elantra gets a wheelbase of 2700mm. The side profile appears sleek with the help of chrome door handles and sloping roofline. It also gets large 17-inch alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the rear comes equipped with bottom bumper spoiler and dashing LED taillights.

The interior of 2017 Elantra comes assembled with premium control buttons and designed with high quality material. The controls are beautifully optimized for the driver and appears easy-to-use. The centre console comes installed with a 4.2-inch TFT LCD display in order to assure better visibility. Elantra also gets a hood insulator to eradicate excess cabin noise.

The 2017 Elantra is powered by a 2.0-litre Nu MPI four-cylinder Atkinson engine that produces 149 PS at 6200 rpm along with 179 Nm of peak torque at 4500 rpm. The powertrain is paired to a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The new Elantra also comes with a choice of second engine i.e. a 1.4-litre Kappa GDI four-cylinder turbocharged engine that churns out 130 PS at 5500rpm and a peak torque of 211 Nm between 1400 to 3700rpm. The engine comes mated to 7-speed dual-clutch 'EcoShift' transmission.
