The seventh-gen Nissan Patrol uses a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine.Per the Yokohama-based car company, the all-new Patrol received loads of improvements for its powertrain, safety, and off-road capabilities. It was likewise bestowed with a new overarching style, which thrusts the nameplate into the realm of modern automotive aesthetics.
Let’s go into a deeper dive into what the all-new Nissan Patrol is offering for its prospective buyers.
Exterior
On the outside, the all-new Patrol has donned a square-shaped look, which is brimming with contemporary design choices.
Up front, it gets a wide quadrilateral mesh “V-motion” grille that’s bisected by two chrome decorative bars. The said part is flanked by square automatic LED headlamp clusters, which are outlined by two C-shaped LED daytime running lamps positioned vertically on top of each other.
Topping the commanding front fascia of the next-gen Patrol is a subtly sculpted and mostly flat bonnet. The aforementioned transitions to a black roof supported by black-colored window pillars, thus creating a two-tone look. Its rear section, on the other hand, continues the theme of the front with its C-shaped LED taillights, as well as an LED light bar.
Other notable exterior bits present for the all-new SUV model include a beefy rear bumper, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a set of 22-inch wheels, among others.
Interior
Inside the Patrol is a spacious but neatly designed cabin, which is mostly clad in soft-touch materials. It also received plenty of high-tech features while featuring logically arranged physical controls for its automatic climate control system.
Particular to its cockpit is a minimalist-looking dash dominated by two 14.3-inch digital displays. One functions as the vehicle’s infotainment system, while the other is a digital driver’s display. The two are seamlessly linked together to form a sizable 28.6-inch widescreen unit.
As usual, the infotainment received Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but it also boasts the new NissanConnect 2.0 and Google Built-In.
For those curious, NissanConnect 2.0 is the brand’s smartphone app, which allows users to remotely control many of the vehicle’s features. Google Built-In, on the other hand, represents the full integration of many Google apps into the vehicle’s headunit.
The driver of the next-gen Patrol is also treated to power-adjustable seats with a massage function. All seven occupants, meanwhile, get to enjoy a large panoramic sunroof, a 12-piece Klipsch Premium sound system, as well as quilted leather seats combined with polished decorative pieces on the interior door cards, dashboard, and center console.
Other interior bits available to the all-new SUV include optional dual 12.8-inch screens, a 64-color ambient lighting system, a power-folding function for the third row, and Nissan’s Biometric Cooling Technology (BCT).
To note, the Japanese marque’s BCT is touted to be an advanced climate control system that can automatically detect the body temperature of the vehicle’s first and second-row occupants. In doing so, it can provide the appropriate amount of cooling and airflow for optimal comfort.
Safety
Primarily handling safety for the next-gen Patrol is the brand’s ProPilot suite of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS).
The aforementioned collection of ADAS features is comprised of a panoramic view camera, a 3D around view monitor, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, rear automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control, among others.
The vehicle was also kitted out with a total of seven airbags, which included, for the first time, a driver’s knee airbag.
Powertrain
Under the hood of the all-new Nissan Patrol is a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which can produce up to 426 horsepower and 700 Newton-meters of torque.
According to Nissan, the new engine provides 7 percent more power and 25 percent additional torque over the outgoing V8 mill. Likewise highlighted by the brand are the Patrol’s heat-resistant turbochargers, its new nine-speed automatic transmission, and its adaptive air suspension system.
The aforementioned adaptive air suspension for the next-gen Patrol was made standard for the model. It allows for seamless transitions between damper settings to make the ride suitable for off-road situations and in-city driving.
Also available for the vehicle is a four-wheel-drive transfer interlock system and six drive modes, such as standard, sand, rock, mud/rut, eco, and sport.
Availability
The reveal of the next-gen Nissan Patrol was held at an exclusive event in Abu Dhabi. Relatedly, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and other Middle Eastern territories will get first dibs for the all-new SUV starting November 1, 2024.
For now, Nissan Philippines has yet to announce if it’ll bring in the next-gen model, but do remember that the Patrol has had a long-standing presence in the brand’s lineup of passenger vehicles.
