Nissan gets 2026 iF Design Award for Patrol

MANILA: Nissan has received the highly-coveted iF Design Award for the Patrol (who is also known abroad as Armada).

The accolade was given after it underwent scrutiny from 129 design experts from 21 nationalities. The awarding was based on five areas of consideration: idea, form, function, differentiation, and sustainability.

Over 10,000 works were judged for this year, which include products and projects from 68 countries.

Per iF Design, the award-winning nameplate carries over 75 years of legacy, excellence, and trust. “It blends cutting-edge technology with Japanese heritage — defined by precision, quality, and attention to detail,” the award-giving body noted.

Among the notable portions that the iF Design lauded are the double-C lighting motifs for head- and tail lamps, as well as the side vents on its front fenders.

“The exterior exudes rugged capability with an ‘unbreakable presence’ and ‘bold dignity’ while the intuitive cockpit and spacious eight-seat interior form a fortress of comfort for every journey across the world,” it added.

Launched in the Philippines in March 2025, the vehicle features a wider V-motion grille (with strike-through chrome bars alongside with a huge company emblem sitting at the middle), LED light bar that spans the width of the rear, squared windows, and a roof-mounted spoiler with third brake lamp.

Meanwhile, the amenities that can be found inside the vehicle are:

• 28.6-inch Monolith Display (made up of two 14.3-inch screens) at the front with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, as well as Bluetooth and USB connectivity
• A pair of 12.8-inch monitors at the rear with Miracast, HDMI, and USB connectivity
• 12-speaker Klipsch Premium Audio System with DIX virtual surround sound technology
• Leather-wrapped multi-functional steering wheel, seats, and dashboard trimmings, door cards, and center console
• Triple-zone automatic air conditioning system
• Cooling box (under front center armrest)
• Ventilated seats
• Wireless charger
• Panoramic sunroof

Recently, Nissan Philippines released a variant of the Patrol with a minimalist rear cabin layout. This option has no rear seat entertainment system — resulting in a simpler interior configuration.
