MANILA: Nissan Motor Corporation has commenced the integration of its manufacturing plant in Thailand as a way to be more “cost-competitive” and “ready for future localization.”

Per Nissan, the integration process in its Thailand plant is expected to finish by the second quarter of 2025.To kick off the said “milestone,” the company staged a ceremony at the Nissan Motor Thailand Plant Line #1 to celebrate decades of its production excellence and the new beginning of its manufacturing.
“Nissan continues its commitment to grow its presence in Thailand and ASEAN. One of our strategic actions this year is upgrading our production lines at Nissan Thailand’s plants to be more cost-competitive and ready for future model localization. This key action prepares us to continue delivering exciting Thai-made vehicles for our valued customers in Thailand and other export destinations,” Nissan Thailand and ASEAN President Toshihiro Fujiki said.
According to Nissan Motor Corporation, the integration process is expected to finish in the second quarter of the year. Production of current models sold in Thailand (listed below) will be at the new integrated line of Nissan Motor Thailand Plant.

‘Rightsizing’ begins
The said move is part of Nissan Motor Company’s bid to “rightsize” its facilities. The Thai plant is only one of the three manufacturing facilities expected to undergo the integration process.
By consolidating its factories, the Japanese auto company looks to save some ¥100 billion (P37 billion).
To recall, Nissan Motor Corporation has lost a possible merger with fellow Japanese automaker Honda Motor Company, Limited.
Further, it also sold its shares in Mitsubishi Motors not too long ago.
