Porsche opens more training centres under PAVE
MANILA: Porsche Recruitment and Training Centre Asia (PTRCA) is where young candidates from underprivileged communities are trained to build a career with the German automaker. The scholarship-based technical school runs with the help of Don Bosco Technical Institute and is handled by Porsche Philippines under PGA Cars. By this program, Porsche has been giving it back to the deserving youngsters, who, however, are underprivileged.
Now with the Porsche Aftersales Vocational Education (PAVE) program, the German auto giant is opening new centres in other countries as well. It follows the legacy of the successful centre which was first established in Manila by Porsche Philippines. New centres in Cape Town, South Africa and Puebla, Mexico have already been set up with one in Tokyo, Japan set to be launched soon.
It is important “to educate our future qualified technicians today through our unique vocational education programs”, said Daniel Schukraft, the Vice President for Aftersales at Porsche. He also added, “The automotive industry is undergoing a fundamental transformation: New technologies are emerging in ever-shorter cycles, and job profiles are changing – not least because advancing digitalisation is increasingly transforming the car into a rolling smartphone. Even with an icon such as the 911; in its latest version it shows the direction things are headed in”.
Giving back to young guys from “socially disadvantaged backgrounds” by providing them with scholarships is our major goal, said the officials from Porsche. Porsche Elite Apprentice Program (PEAP) will be continued and 10 educational institutions have also been contracted by the automaker. Porsche believes that these new centres in different parts of the world will pave a road to have a skilled workforce which as a result will help in transforming the automotive industry.
With many Philippine youngsters working for Porsche globally at centres in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, the success of Porsche Recruitment and Training Centre Asia (PTRCA) is clearly visible.
