Suzuki eVitara gets LTO approval

MANILA: After its documentation from the Department of Energy came out, the Suzuki eVitara received the approval paper from the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

Recently, the LTO issued Memorandum Circular MVL-2026-5028,  which stated the official classification of the full electric crossover.

Prior to this, the model’s prototype (called the EVX Concept) was displayed at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

Meanwhile, the nameplate’s production version—manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat—will likely be launched at the motoring event’s 10th edition slated for June  this year.

Here are the specifications of Suzuki Philippines Incorporated’s first-ever pure-bred, full-electric model as stated in the LTO papers.

Vehicle specifications

The Suzuki eVitara virtually has the same measurements as its direct rival, the Toyota Urban Cruiser, On paper, it tapes in at:

Overall dimensions (length, width, height; in millimeters [mm>)	4,275 x 1,800 x 1,635

Further, it sits on 18-inch wheels wrapped in 225/55 tires.

Its electric powertrain allows the vehicle to reach speeds of up to 150 kilometers per hour. Mated to a lithium-ion battery (which can be juiced up in as fast as 45 minutes), the Suzuki eVitara can cover up to 426 kilometers of road — shorter than what counterpart Toyota can achieve.

As noted in the papers from the energy department, the Suzuki e-Vitara is equipped with an electric motor at the front that delivers 171 horsepower and 193 Newton-meters of torque, which allows the vehicle to accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 8.7 seconds.

Controllability, stability, and stopping performance are ensured by the following systems:

Suspensions	Front: MacPherson struts Rear: Multi-link system
Braking system	Ventilated disc-type (front and back)

Similar to its rival from the fellow Japanese automaker, the Suzuki eVitara is outfitted with beefy cladding and blacked-out portions.

Suzuki Philippines Incorporated already provided details on its website — featuring the vehicle in tactical green colorway.  Additionally, the Suzuki eVitara has a host of creature comforts namely:

• Automatic air conditioning system
• Cabin lights with ambient lighting
• Bottle holders
• Type A and Type C USB charging ports
• 12-volt accessory socket
•  Wireless phone charger

Lastly, the Suzuki e-Vitara boasts the following driver-assistive and safety technologies: 

• Seatbelts
• Airbags 
• Multiple collision braking 
• Lane departure prevention
• Lane keep assist
• Adaptive high beam assist 
• Blind spot monitor 
• Rear cross-traffic alert 
• Anti-lock braking 
• Electronic brake-force distribution 
• Electronic stability program 

In addition to a 360-degree camera and parking sensors, the Suzuki e-Vitara carries the Dual Sensor Brake Support II (DSBS II) system, which can also be found in the updated Jimny 3-door. 

Pricing for the Suzuki eVitara has yet to be revealed at the time of posting this article.
