The Wait is Finally Over, 2016 Honda Civic units Ready for Delivery
MANILA: Despite of being pushed back by Ford Motor company’s sales in the first quarter of 2016, Honda Motors is sure looking at a bright future. Their C-segment sedan the 2016 Honda Civic has surely been present since April in the Philippine showrooms, but the aspiring owners had to wait for the delivery. In the recent news, it was reported that Honda Motors Philippines have received the first lot of Civic, which will be delivered as per the bookings that are already done in the showrooms. According to the manufacturer’s report, more than 1200 units of the Civic have already been booked and the customers are now waiting for their new cars to get delivered. While 1200 units doesn’t sound that much, but it is surely a magnanimous figure to beat when looking at the Civic’s competition. The Chevrolet Cruze only sold 11 units, while Hyundai’s Elantra sold just 83 units till April 2016.
The lot includes units for both models; the Civic 1.8 E and the Civic RS Turbo. While there is a difference between their engine output due to the presence of a turbocharger on the RS variant, both have been presented with a highly smooth Earth Dreams technology CVT gearbox. This not only makes these cars highly comfortable to drive, but also provides a nice contrast to buyers who might want to enjoy the higher power output on the turbocharged variant. If you’re still not well versed with their prices for both the variants, the 1.8 E is available for Php 1,088,000, while the RS Turbo is available for 1,398,000. These prices are certainly quite competitive in respect to the prices offered by Honda’s competitors such as the Toyota Corolla Altis and Chevrolet Cruze etc.
The 2016 Honda Civic made its Philippine debut on the 26th of April and comes equipped with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine with turbocharger and a regular 1.8-litre i-VTEC. Apart from these nice choices of engines, both variants also come equipped with tons of advanced features as standard. This includes the 7-inch touch screen display for the infotainment panel, remote engine start and the above mentioned CVT. The new Civic might also see a much better crowd response, with the speculation of 2017 Civic Hatchback making its way to the Philippines. While Honda Motors Philippines is sure clinging at the bottom in the top 5 automotive manufacturer’s list, they will definitely change all this through the revamped Civic.
