Toyota Corolla Altis teaser released, launch September 13

A teaser video of the all-new Toyota Corolla Altis has been released by Toyota Motor Thailand ahead of its launch on September 13 this year. The 12th generation model is built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) GA-C platform and was first unveiled globally in November 2018 with amended dimensions.

The revised dimensions are 4,640 mm long, 1,780 mm wide, and 1,435 mm tall, this makes the vehicle 10 mm longer, 5 mm wider and 45 mm lower than the current sedan. The wheelbase measures 2,700 mm, which is the same as earlier. The looks of Thai-spec Corolla Altis will be the same as the European model. 

As reported, the Altis will be offered in six variants and three petrol engine options. The base engine on the 1.6 J and 1.6 G is a 1ZR-FAE 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder Dual VVT-i unit mated with either a six-speed manual or CVT, producing 132 hp of power and 159 Nm of torque.

Next in the lineup is the 2ZR-FE 1.8-litre NA four-pot Dual VVT-i powerplant in the 1.8 GR Sport with a CVT, producing 140 hp of power and 173 Nm of torque. And, the other three variants 1.8 HV Entry, 1.8 HV Mid, and 1.8 HV High, have a hybrid powertrain which incorporates an e-CVT and 2ZR-FXE 1.8-litre Atkinson cycle four-cylinder with an electric motor producing 122 hp of power and 142 Nm of torque.

Other features noted from the teaser include a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, Toyota Safety Sense suite, pre-collision system, lane tracing assist, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure alert with steering assist, telematics and many more. The automaker has not revealed anything on the price-take, but the sources estimated the starting price at Php 1,190,259 and the top-end variant price at Php 1,700,498. The model will be competing with the other C-segment models in the Malayasian market like the Honda Civic FC and Mazda 3.
