Toyota PH recalls select LC300 units for possible faulty automatic transmission ECU

MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is recalling more than 3,000 units of the Land Cruiser 300 (LC300) due to possible faulty automatic transmission electronic control units (ECU).

The LC300 models produced from July 21, 2021-January 12, 2024 are covered by the special service campaign.Based on its announcement, a total of 3,420 units (produced from July 21, 2021-January 12, 2024) will be covered by TMP’s special service campaign.
The leading automotive distributor in the country shared that affected vehicles need to have their automatic transmission ECU reprogrammed as an issue in the design of a certain brake clutch disc may cause delayed disengagement when shifting to neutral.
“This could lead to involuntary low-speed forward movement if the foot brake or parking brake is not applied, that may increase the risk of a collision,” the TMP explained.
Concerned clients, TMP said, shall be informed via an official notification letter for their vehicles’ automatic transmission ECU to be reprogrammed. The initiative will be free of charge to customers.
“Involved customers with vehicles included in the service campaign are highly encouraged to immediately set an appointment with any authorized Toyota dealer to perform the necessary reprogramming of the automatic transmission ECU and prevent problems from occurring,” the TMP urged.
