Toyota Tamaraw UV, Coaster units to be fielded in new HEAL project

MANILA: The Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) Foundation, the social and humanitarian arm of Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), has partnered up with Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF) and the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) to initiate the “Healthcare Mobility for All” (HEAL) Project. 

The key element of the HEAL Project is the deployment of two heavily modified Toyota Coaster units, which will serve as mobile clinics and medical laboratories. In doing so, the foundation and its partners will be able to bring crucial healthcare services to communities in Cavite. 

As TMP Foundation disclosed, it will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, which includes the following: 

• Electrocardiogram (ECG)
• Urinalysis machine
• Complete Blood Count (CBC) machine
• Creatinine FBS/RBS test machine
• Chest X-ray
• HBA1C analyzer

Additionally, the said Coaster units will be linked to the existing PGH information technology (IT) systems for online consultation booking. 

To further hone in on the theme of mobility, the project will also field three Toyota Tamaraw Utility Van (UV) units as shuttles for PGH healthcare workers. As TMP Foundation explained, these vehicles will support their daily commute, especially for healthcare professionals working night shifts or early morning shifts. As an added benefit, the aforementioned will also reduce carbon emissions, as it is a form of carpooling. 

For those curious, the Toyota Tamaraw is offered by TMP with a price ranging from P937,000-P1.142 million. The Tamaraw UV, specifically, stands as the nameplate's top-spec trim. 

The Toyota Coaster, on the other hand, is a 29-seater bus currently priced at P4.114 million. 

Toyota Motor PH Foundation: 35 years of achievements

Apart from the launch of the HEAL Project, TMP and TMP Foundation Chairman Alfred Ty also highlighted the notable achievements of the company’s social responsibility arm in celebration of its 35th anniversary. 

For starters, the TMP Foundation has already donated a total of P800 million to various initiatives, encompassing investments in education, environmental protection, and charitable projects.

Examples of TMP Foundation’s beneficiaries include the establishment and continued support of the GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center at the University of the Philippines, the UP Los Baños Makiling Botanic Gardens, and the Gawad Kalinga Village for indigent families in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

Moreover, TMP Foundation has already helped 1,200 scholars achieve their dreams since the 1990s. The aforementioned was made possible through the entity’s partnerships with 20 schools nationwide. 

More recently, the foundation, which has been actively working with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, also pledged to donate P3.5 million to support those affected by typhoons and the “habagat.”
