Toyota pauses orders for LC 70 in Australia due to 'strong demand, low production levels'

MANILA: Toyota’s Australian subsidiary has temporarily paused orders for the Land Cruiser 70 Series GXL Wagon automatic variant due to high demand and low production levels. 

According to Toyota Australia, the pause only affects the abovementioned model. The company opted to pause orders to provide complete transparency for customers and enable dealers to deliver existing orders on time.

“We know in the past, particularly through the COVID-19 pandemic and during the global semiconductor supply shortage, vehicle supply challenges caused a degree of frustration with our customers with wait times for delivery of new vehicles being extended significantly,” Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing, and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said in a press release. 

“We never want to be the cause of that frustration again so together with our dealer network, we are committed to carefully managing any supply issues to provide complete transparency for customers when issues outside our control arise,” he added. 

The brand confirms that apart from the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series GXL Wagon with an automatic transmission, it has a good supply of all other variants in the Land Cruiser 70 Series range with dealers having some variants in stock for immediate delivery, or are able to deliver new orders within approximately two to four months, depending on the variant.

Per Hanley, Toyota Australia is continuously working with Toyota Japan to optimize production and supply as well as to ensure they can deliver and satisfy Australian customer demands.

“Since we launched the new four-cylinder LandCruiser 70 Series in late 2023, we have seen its appeal grow for Australian customers with strong demand across the entire range,” Hanley commented.

Locally, the Land Cruiser nameplate is connected to two models: the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and its smaller brother, the Land Cruiser Prado.

Pricing 

The Philippine market Toyota Land Cruiser is priced at P5.773 million while the Land Cruiser Prado gets a sticker price of P4.806 million.
