Toyota Touches Sales Figure Of 9 Million In Hybrid Cars
MANILA: Toyota, the biggest automotive manufacturer across the globe, has made it big again. It has been just a couple of days only when CAMPI released its sales report for April 2016 and announced that a 30.3 percent of hike in overall sales has been recorded with Toyota leading the charts. This time, it is again about the sales figures achieved by Toyota Motor Corporation which have made other automakers insecure and made them think of all the possibilities which can increase their sales. Toyota has announced that the sales of its hybrid vehicle fleet have crossed the milestone of 9 million unit as of April 2016. Toyota has a fleet of 33 hybrid passenger car models along with a plug-in hybrid (PHV) globally which helped it achieve this big. Indeed, this is a big reason to celebrate for Toyota!
Though Toyota Philippines is not offering all of these 34 hybrid models and has restricted itself with just 2 of them – Prius and Prius C but the appreciating sales of these 2 models in the Philippines have also contributed their bit in these numbers. An authority from Toyota Philippines cited that the company is very happy with the figures and with this growth, it won't take it much time to cross the 10 million mark. Also, these numbers are evidence of the popularity which the hybrid cars are getting in recent times and that is making the company think about introducing more of such cars while spreading them farther to the countries where they are not available right now.
Toyota has revealed in its statement that the last million of these 9.014 million hybrid car units were sold in the last nine months, which we would say TREMENDOUS! Toyota added the hybrid version of its highly popular minivan – Toyota Sienta last year and also started with the sales of 4th Gen Prius the same year which have worked in favor of the Japanese giant and made it achieve this target.
Indeed, the sales are not faux and we all know how serious the automaker is in creating sumptuous drives with cutting edge technology. But what is inspiring Toyota to create such an environment-friendly fleet and moreover promoting the sales of this particular segment drives more than the rest? Well, we have an answer for this. In October 2015, the company announced to take Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050 where it set a challenge to reduce negative impacts automobiles and provide options which are not only better for the environment but also contribute towards sustainable society. So, the expansion of hybrid line-up is a step towards fulfillment of this challenge and the company has set a target of selling 15 million hybrid unit by the year 2020, which seems quite an easy task now. With this, Toyota has also mentioned that these hybrid cars have saved around 25 million kilolitres of petrol in comparison to the gasoline-powered cars in the same category. Indeed a brilliant step by Toyota, appreciation!
