Zigwheels PH weekly wrap: Oct 20-24

MANILA: Here are the biggest news this week in the automotive and motorcycle industry. 

Brands have launched new models, adding to the growing population of automobiles and motorbikes in the country. While most took advantage of the foot traffic in the ongoing Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS), some brands decided to stage their roll outs outside the electric car expo.

Car launches 

Further, we saw companies open — and close — dealerships this week. Lastly, brands put out enticing promos for hopeful car buyers ahead of the holiday season. 

Jetour Auto PH launches all-new T1 i-DM

Jetour Auto Philippines Incorporated — now officially under the United Asia Automotive Group, Incorporated umbrella — has unleashed the T1 i-DM. The said model is a platform sibling to the T2 and boasts a hybrid powertrain, ideal for those who prefer to travel sustainably.

MG PH unleashes TRQ-L pickup

As for Morris Garages (MG) Philippines, the company has finally entered the local pickup truck segment with the TRQ-L, which also happens to be its first diesel-powered vehicle in the country.

The company is offering a special introductory price for the model with freebies for the first 200 buyers.

Harley-Davidson quietly adds Pan America 1250 ST to PH lineup

Motorcycle enthusiasts will now have another option when shopping for an American-made bike after Harley-Davidson Philippines bolstered its lineup — albeit with minimal fanfare — with the Pan America 1250 ST.

Dealership openings, closings 

Several brands were busy expanding their presence this week. These include the likes of Changan Philippines, which opened a new location in Plaridel, Bulacan with Voltura Motors, as well as Suzuki Philippines Incorporated, which opened its Otis facility with NXT Mile Motors, Incorporated. 

Unfortunately, Changan’s Cagayan de Oro is now officially closed. 

Promotions 

Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a special promo where customers can set a down payment of only P35, among other enticing deals. Meanwhile, BMW Philippines rolled out its “Seasons of Joy” promo, slashing a significant amount for some of its most coveted nameplates.

In other news, motorists can now use a single Radio Frequency Identification card to use major Luzon expressways. 

Additionally, Toyota Motor Philippines brought the highly anticipated Ativ hybrid sedan to Bonifacio Global Center.
