Zigwheels weekly wrap: Feb. 9-13

MANILA: The local industry continues to remain busy with a model preview, dealership openings, as well as promotions rolled out by industry players. 

Likewise, other relevant news also caught the attention of Filipino motorists. 

On that note, let’s dive in and take a look back at the biggest motoring news last week. 

Model previews

VinFast previews Limo Green 

VinFast Philippines has previewed the Limo Green, a seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle that could allow the company to penetrate the growing segment. 

Confirmed specifications so far include an electric motor at the front wheel axle and a 60.13 kilowatt-hour battery that allows for an estimated range of 450 kilometers. 

Like most VinFast cars, it is available with a battery subscription program. 

The VinFast Limo Green is expected to be released sometime in March 2025. 

In related news, VinFast also entered Indonesia’s electric scooter market, and its parent company Vingroup — alongside its real estate arm Vinhomes — were honored in the TIME’s Asia-Pacific’s Best Companies of 2026. 

All-new Toyota RAV4 tees off 

The all-new Toyota RAV4 was teased at the recently held 54th edition of the Golden Tee tournament at the Manila Golf and Country Club last week. 

Of note, the latest iteration of the compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) received regulatory approval from the Department of Energy. 

Fans are hoping that it will make its official debut in the country at the upcoming Philippine International Motor Show (which is scheduled on June 4-7 at the World Trade Center) this 2026.

Dealer openings 

Geely Alabang 

Geely Motor Philippines has opened the doors of its newest dealership in Alabang. 

The outlet is managed by its multi-brand dealer partner, ANC+ Group of Companies. Located at B1 L15 Tierra Nueva, Alabang–Zapote Road in Muntinlupa City, the establishment is expected to bring sales, maintenance, and service support closer to customers in Alabang and nearby areas. 

Relatedly, Geely Auto has hit a record milestone, selling four million units in 2025.

Chery Alabang wins 5th DOYA 

Still in Alabang — although not exactly a newly opened branch — Chery’s dealership in the area won its fifth consecutive dealer of the year award. 

Owned and managed by Frontier Automotive Marilao Corporation, it earned the  Top Retail Sales dealership title for the National Capital Region at the 2025 GRIT Awards.

Feb. promos 

For the month of February, many car brands have rolled out their respective promos. Here are the companies that went all-out in making their vehicles more accessible to the masses. 

First, Mercedes-Benz Philippines kicked off the second month of 2026 by offering up to P5 million in discounts on select models. 

Serving as their Chinese New Year campaign, the Inchcape Philippines-led brand also offered an extended warranty package for their EQ series models. 

Next, Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated has extended its “Your Best Year Starts Here” campaign, and presented irresistible deals for the love month. Highlighted models include the  Honda City, BR-V, and HR-V. 

Other models are still offered with good deals that allow buyers to enjoy discounts and flexible payment arrangements. 

Finally, Great Wall Motor Philippines keeps its momentum by rolling out a special promo for the Cannon Slux+. 

The local wing of the Chinese carmaker — under the distributorship of Luxuriant Automotive Group Incorporated — is offering an all-in downpayment of P98,000 plus two months free amortization for the pickup truck. 

Other local news 

In other news stories, the Land Transportation Office has issued show-cause orders for the participants of the ever-controversial BOSS (BMW Owners Society of Safe Riders) Ironman endurance race.

On the other hand, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has reiterated that government vehicles (those with red plates) are prohibited from use on weekends and holidays. 

Meanwhile, the infamous Discaya-owned Rolls-Royce Cullinan was sold to Igorot Stone Kingdom Incorporated chief executive. It was priced at P29 million.
