Toyota’s Pixis Van BEV is what young entrepreneurs could enjoy

MANILA: Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has added a battery electric vehicle version of the Pixis kei van.

Per the Japanese automotive manufacturer, its newest offering is aimed at fully meeting customer needs by retaining its excellent usability, including large cargo capacity and effortless loading, while delivering powerful, smooth, and quiet driving performance.

Developed in through a multi-brand partnership, the four-seater small commercial vehicle utilized Suzuki Motor Corporation and Daihatsu Motor Company’s expertise in manufacturing kei cars and Toyota's electrification technology.

Here are some notable features of the Toyota Pixis Van BEV.

Power comes from an electric motor integrated in the rear axle. This mill can dish out:

Maximum output (in horsepower)	63
Peak torque (in Newton-meters)	126

Providing the juice to the powertrain is a 36.6-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery placed under the floor.

Further, the Toyota Pixis Van BEV also features a newly-designed trailing-link rigid-axle rear suspension to enjoy lessened unsprung weight and improved road-following performance.

The vehicle also boasts a vehicle-to-home function, making it highly-usable not just on last-mile deliveries but also power source to homes.

Moreover, the Toyota Pixis Van BEV offers loading space of1,920 millimeters (mm) in length, 1,270 mm for its width, and a height of up to 1,250 mm in height.

Inside, the vehicle is equipped with:

• Space-efficient overhead shelving and water-resistant full fabric seat upholstery
• Energy-efficient seat heaters (driver and passenger seats)
• Automatic air conditioning
• Active multi-information meter that displays battery level and power usage
• USB outlets for charging smartphones and other devices

Lastly, this offering is fitted with the latest Smart Assist active safety system that include Collision Warning Function and Collision-Avoidance Support Braking Function.

Priced at JPY 3.146 million (approximately P1.192 million), this model is, sadly, only made available for the Japanese market.

The model is produced at Daihatsu Motor Kyushu Company’s Oita (Nakatsu) facility and is expected to sell around 50 units monthly.
