Here are a few things that make the new Yamaha Mio Gear S a solid all-rounder:
Fit, finish
Outside, the all-new Yamaha Mio Gear S sports an updated look with its fascia flaunting a large LED headlamp at the center with two LED hazard lights, which, according to YMPH, not only enhances visibility but also helps riders maintain confidence throughout different riding situations.
Aside from its practical application, the front end of the automatic motorcycle also gives it an assertive presence.
Clean is its front cowling, as well as the stock rubber handles and standard brake levers. However, the angular side mirrors help boost its aggressive urban look.
The side profile of the new Yamaha Mio Gear S gets several angles, with a few tough-looking appointments here and there. Notable is its spacious floor board, which is designed to provide convenient legroom and extra space for carrying items throughout the day.
It is also worth mentioning that the floor board — as well as the plastic foot rest for the pillion rider — has a textured design to avoid slippage of both cargo and passenger.
And since we have briefly mentioned practicality, the small motorcycle also has sturdy cargo hooks for versatile carrying options. There is also an 18.6-liter (L) underseat storage that accommodates everyday urban essentials for added practicality and convenience during rides — short or long.
Other notable features found on the new Yamaha Mio Gear S’ flanks are folding metal foot pegs, a three-dimensional emblem, a similarly “tough-looking” muffler guard, and a familiar-looking brown-colored seat for the likewise matte brown-hued model (black seat for other color options).
At the back is a multi-functional grab bar and a long rear fender, which wraps up the overall exterior appointments of the updated two-wheeler.
Below are its available colors:
- Ceramic Gray
- Basalt Gray
- Matte Brown
Technology
At the center of the grab handles is a large and informative digital meters panel for a more modern riding experience.
In addition, it also offers would-be owners an electric power socket for convenient charging access for their gadgets while on the move.
Additional convenience comes through Yamaha’s answer-back system, allowing riders to easily locate their motorcycle in crowded parking spaces through remote-activated light and sound response.
Powertrain, suspension
Propulsion for the new Yamaha Mio Gear S comes from a new 125 cubic-centimeter, air-cooled engine with “Blue Core Hybrid” and “smart motor generator” technology.
The said setup delivers fuel efficiency with quicker and smoother acceleration, especially during starts and inclines via its “electric power assist” system.
A stop-and-start system also boosts fuel economy by reducing fuel waste as it automatically shuts off the engine when idling at traffic lights.
It gets a 5.1-L fuel tank for decent range in between gas station stops.
Quick halts and deceleration are facilitated by a combination of disc brakes (front) and drum brakes (rear). These are connected to a pair of 12-inch wheels shod in wide tubeless tires that not only give it additional “pogi points” but also enhance balance.
Pricing
For all the abovementioned features, the new Yamaha Mio Gear S stickers for P81,900.
“Combining practicality, smart technology, and urban mobility, the Mio Gear S is built for riders who live actively, move differently, and create their own rhythm every day,” YMPH said.
“Because today, there is no single way to move. Play Your Way,” it concluded.
