2018 Ford Expedition unveiled

MANILA: Tagged as the smartest, most capable, and adaptable, the 2018 Expedition has been finally unveiled by Ford Motors. The American automaker claims that this SUV is advanced in every aspect from its previous version. Considering the design of the SUV, there are no major changes but, it uses high-strength, aluminum alloy body and redesigned high-strength steel frame that improves the towing capability of the SUV. This has also helped in reducing the weight up to 136 kg.

2018 Ford Expedition is the first vehicle in the lineup of the company which features wireless charging using an integrated pad on the front center console. The car will also serve a WiFi hotspot with a capability of serving 10 devices up to 50 feet away from the car. For entertainment, dual-headrest rear seat screens are fitted to view home cable programming on either of two video screens or any handheld devices. For handling mobile devices, the 2018 Expedition is equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and SYNC Connect with FordPass to manage the SUV remotely.

Each row has been offered with four 12-volt power outlets, 6 USB chargers, and 110-volt power outlet. To cater your music needs, there is a 12-speaker B&O Play premium audio system. One of the notable features of the car is its second row, which comes with the segment-first seat with sliding and tip-and-slide functionality for easy access to the last row along with more legroom.

The third row can be folded to improve the cargo space with just a push button. Even there is an advanced cargo manager that uses an adjustable shelf behind the third row to manage cargo space depending on the luggage volume. This system also helps in preventing the luggage from rolling out of the car if the SUV is parked on an inclined surface and gate is open.

Under the hood, a 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 engine with Auto Start-Stop technology is equipped to carry the SUV in an effective manner. However, the power and torque figures are not released by the company yet. Just like Ford F-150, the engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. 2018 Ford Expedition also comes with limited-slip differential with Intelligent 4WD which uses all-new Terrain Management System. This intelligent system helps the driver in choosing between modes to handle different terrains and road conditions.

The SUV is also accompanied with Pro Trailer Backup Assist, a hands-free liftgate system and a panoramic vista roof that spans two rows. The safety features of 2018 Expedition include Active Park Assist, 360-degree camera, lane keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go which uses radar and camera technology. Further, the updated Expedition also comes with the collision avoidance detection system and Blind Spot Information System.
