2018 Ford Mustang revealed

MANILA:  After releasing the teaser of the much-acclaimed muscle car, Ford has finally revealed the 2018 Mustang. The new Mustang bears a meaner look and features advanced technologies to deliver better performance, comfort and handling.

Ford describes the 2018 Mustang as more athletic due to the new hood and remodelled upper as well as lower front grille. The repositioned hood vents further improve the aerodynamic design of the muscle car. A new set of headlights is also equipped at the front that comes standard with full LED lighting - low beam, projector high beam, turn signals, daytime running lights and fog lights.

At the rear, the signature three-bar taillights are also equipped with LED lights and now possess a bit curved design. Accentuating the rear design are present high-performance spoiler, tweaked diffuser and bumper with stop lights at the rounded corners. The updated version of Ford Mustang will now be available with 3 new colour options and 12 distinct wheel choices.

Even the cabin gets significant changes with restyled seat surfaces, along with new patterns and colour choices. The centre console is hand stitched with contrast stitching and the padded knee bolsters. The 2018 Ford Mustang also features an updated infotainment system which features SYNC Connect 3 and the FordPass app as standard. Through the FordPass app, an individual can remotely start the engine, check the fuel, lock and unlock doors. It also helps the driver in finding a parking slot in advance and helps in booking the next service appointment.

A 12-inch LCD screen is also equipped in the car to help the driver in customising its preferences. It also helps in selecting the driving mode - Normal or Sport. The list of safety features includes pre-collision assist pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist and Driver Alert System.

The engine options include a 2.3-litre EcoBoost inline four and a 5.0-litre Coyote V8. The smaller engine option is tweaked to give better acceleration at full throttle. The second one is updated with port fuel injection and enhanced compression ratio which now rest at 12:1. The power figures are yet to be declared by the company. The gearbox options include a reworked 6-speed manual and a new 10-speed automatic.

Ford is also offering MagneRide damping system in the Mustang Performance package which customers can opt for added adrenaline rush. The performance package optimises the overall ride for better handling in all situations.

The 2018 Ford Mustang will be available in the US market by end of this year and the company has not given any information about its launch in the Philippines.
