2018 Toyota Rush awarded five-star rating for safety by ASEAN NCAP

MANILA: A higher buying trend of SUV’s can be spotted among ASEAN vehicle consumers. And recently, the local market witnessed the launch of Toyota Rush, improving the number of choices for Filipinos. With the help of Bloomberg Philanthropies, ASEAN NCAP recently performed some crash tests on various SUV models offered by the ASEAN market in which Toyota Rush was also included.

The ASEAN New Car Assesment Program (NCAP) put the latest Toyota Rush through a vigorous safety test to understand its safety and rigidity. To our surprise, the car did really well and it was awarded a five-star safety rating under the 2017-2020 rating cap.

The Rush acquired an overall rating of 84.03 out of 100 with highest marks obtained in Adult Occupancy protection (AOP), Child occupancy protection (COP) and in safety assistance (SA). The Rush was able to provide good protection to the passenger’s head and knees in both the front and the rear end impacts.

However, there is a minute possibility that the driver might receive a small blow on their lower legs and chest in case of a head-on collision. The rush received the best score for the Child safety with its rear-facing child seats.

The Seven seater Toyota Rush also received excellent grades for its wide series of safety measures which involves Anti-lock braking system (ABS) that comes with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Control system (VSC) supported by Traction control system (TC), Hill start assistance (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) and Seatbelt alarm for the driver, front as well as rear passengers. Moreover, there are six airbags in the Rush.

The Philippine special Toyota Rush is packed with all the above-mentioned safety perks and has the set of six airbags (front side, driver, and rear). The SUV is on sale at a starting price of Php 948,000.
