Toyota launches updated Raize

MANILA: Toyota, specifically PT Toyota-Astra Motor, has launched the updated Raize for the Indonesian market.

The model’s entire lineup of trims received notable improvements to styling and on-board features, but the biggest addition is a new Toyota Gazoo Racing (GR) trim, which has been equipped with sporty exterior bits. 

In the context of the Philippine market, the locally available Raize has not received a significant update or refresh since it was introduced back in 2022. But now that Indonesia has a new Raize, it wouldn’t be much of a stretch to see it launched in the Philippine market in the near future. 

Currently, the local version of the Raize has a price ranging from P757,000-P1.069 million, across four variants.

Updated Toyota Raize: specifications, features

As for engines, the updated Toyota Raize in Indonesia still offers the same naturally aspirated 1.2-liter and turbocharged 1.0-liter options. 

The 1.0-liter turbocharged versions can still produce up to 97 horsepower (hp) and 140 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque, whereas the lower-spec 1.2-liter versions can dish out 87 hp and 113 Nm of torque. 

Other mechanical details of the updated Raize were carried over from its predecessor. It still has front disc and rear drum brakes, a rear torsion beam suspension, a MacPherson strut front suspension, and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). 

The all-new Toyota Raize GR Sport trim, in particular, stands out thanks to its GR Sport front and rear bumpers, which are chunkier compared to the older 1.2-liter trim's bumper set. It likewise received a new LED taillight design, 17-inch black wheels, a roof spoiler, and GR-themed side decals. 

Available colors for the Toyota Raize GR Sport include Black, Grey, Red, Silver Metallic, Turquoise, White, and Yellow. A two-tone (with black roof) option is available except for the Black and Grey. The Yellow colorway, meanwhile, is sold via a “Spot Order” by PT Toyota-Astra Motor.

Inside the updated Toyota Raize, the five-seater layout remains the same. Most features, again, were carried over from the outgoing model, but Toyota gave it a new nine-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is one inch wider than the old model’s central screen.  

Specific to the Indo-spec Toyota Raize GR Sport are paddle shifters, a GR steering wheel, a seven-inch TFT display, and a steering-wheel-mounted drive mode switch. Moreover, all trims also received “gun metallic” accents on their door grips, console, and side panels. Black accents were likewise added to its pillars and its headliner. 

Additionally, a separate Toyota Raize GR Sport with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) is also sold in Indonesia.
