2019 Mitsubishi Strada (Triton) wears bolder aesthetics
MANILA: The 2019 Mitsubishi Triton, a.k.a. Strada in the Philippines is now bolder than most pickups in the segment. All thanks to the aesthetic makeover it recently received. However, if this boldness isn’t enough, the company has also added some accessories to the list in order to quench the prospects.
The new Mitsubishi Strada takes design inspiration from the Xpander and Montero Sport. As for the changes made, the front portion has left behind its chrome-rich approach for more classic grey additions on the grille. The name “Mitsubishi” is inscribed on one such grey piece that sits below the company’s emblem. The bumper is now garnished in the same grey piece, albeit thicker, adding muscularity up front.
Apart from this, the optional dual tone 18-inch alloy wheels also adds to the list. The carriage space gets anchor points to fasten the cargo luggage securely. The door pillars have optional carbon-fibre foil wraps along with window deflectors.
Inside the cabin, scuff plates are given as optional in order to prevent any kind of scratches on the door sills. The gear knob gets leather coverage, while the floor mats get ‘Mitsubishi Motors’ inscribed on the face.
The currently sold Mitsubishi Strada in the Philippines is available in two engine trims, a 2.5-litre and a more powerful 2.4-litre. The former is capable of making a maximum power of 136 hp along with a peak torque of 324 Nm, while the latter is much more powerful and makes 181 hp and 430 Nm of torque. The power is sent down to the wheels via a 5-speed manual or automatic unit.
For the people here in the Philippines, the inclusion of this new Mitsubishi Strada seems to be far away. The current generation model is available at a starting price tag of Php 1,050,000.
