2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA teased, to come out on December 11, 2019

MANILA: December 11, 2019, is when the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA will step on the podium. Following the launch of the revamped A-Class and the B-Class models by the German automaker, the 2020 GLA, a compact crossover will finally roll out of the production line in the next month on the 11th of December. With the A-Class and the B-Class fulfilling the hatch and MPV demands, respectively, it was now high time that Mercedes-Benz introduced a compact crossover.

While quite a few spy shots of the upcoming 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA have already been doing rounds over the internet, Mercedes-Benz has now teased the crossover itself via an image that depicts the silhouette of the car in the dark. Set to be unveiled at the automaker's "purely digital world premiere",

the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA is based on the MFA II platform and will be the eighth model to be underpinned by the same. The seven other cars that feature the MFA II platform are the A-Class hatch, sedan, and LWB sedan, the CLA coupe & Shooting Brake, B-Class, and the GLB.

Not only the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA will arrive with a longer wheelbase but also feature a taller profile for a proper crossover-like stance. A bold grille, LED headlights, body cladding all-around, and large & stylish alloys will enhance the exterior of the crossover. On the inside, we expect a cabin similar to what we have already seen on the A-Class hatchback. We should see all of the AR displays, MBUX infotainment system, and other tech & comfort peculiarities making their way to the GLA.

An array of powerhouses will be on offer, including a 1.3-litre petrol unit that churns out 163 hp and two 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines, which produce 190 hp and 224 hp, respectively. Other than the aforementioned petrol motors, there will be a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel-fed motor with 115 hp of maximum power and a pair of 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel mills with 150 hp and 190 hp of maximum power, respectively.

Safety equipment will also be considerably high-tech with features such as active brake assist, emergency lane function, exit warning function, pedestrian detection, and others onboard. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz should arrive in the Philippines by late 2020, a year after its global debut.
