All-new Ford Territory finds place in Mexican market

MANILA: There were apparent reports concerning the new Ford Territory arrival in Mexico. The model is a Ford compact SUV with the name of Equator in China. Now that the Ford Territory is scheduled to enter the Mexican market on October 5, the rumors seem to be true.

Ford and Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC) in China jointly produce the Equator, as it is known on the Chinese market. It is built on a platform from that Asian automaker, just like the current model, which is also offered here in the Philippines.

In Mexico, it will be available in three trim levels for the 2023 model year: Ambiente, Trend, and Titanium. The 2023 Ford Territory has a 1.8-liter Turbo Ecoboost engine that produces 187 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, which drives the front wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission, reports said.

The 2023 Ford Territory has the following measurements: 4.62 meters long, 1.70 meters high, and 1.93 meters wide including the side mirrors. A total of 448 liters can fit in the trunk.

Depending on the version, the 2023 Ford Territory may seat five people in seats made of leather, vinyl, or cloth. Only the Titanium has leather on the steering wheel.

The only versions with a panoramic roof and an electrochromic rearview mirror are this one and the Trend; the mirror automatically darkens so the driver does not have to adjust in order to avoid getting blinded.

In terms of technology, the 2023 Territory will include a wireless 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a seven- or 12-inch instrument panel, depending on the variant.

Only the Titanium level, which combines eight speakers for the music system and six speakers in Ambiente and Trend, has wireless charging for phones.

Six airbags, ABS brakes, an automatic brake distribution system, a reverse camera for Trend and Titanium models, stability and traction control, and other safety features will all be standard on the 2023 Ford Territory when it makes its way to Mexico.

Driving assistance features like forward and reverse sensors, blind spot monitoring, hill descent control and hill start assist, tire pressure monitoring system, lane-keep system (available only on Titanium models), and cruise control are also added.

The current Ford Territory is still among the top-selling SUVs in the local market two years after it arrived in the Philippines.

Ford Philippines delivered 3,691 Territory vehicles in the first half of 2022, an increase of 11% over the same period in the previous year. In the small SUV category, the Ford Territory holds a 52% market share.

With the delivery of 1,574 units in June of last year, the Territory had its greatest retail month result. The Territory passed the 10,000th sales milestone earlier this year.

The Ford Territory is renowned for its strong presence, exceptional performance, excellent fuel economy, and cutting-edge features.
