Auto Expo 2020: Hyundai Tucson facelift showcased

MANILA: The Auto Expo 2020 seems to be the perfect time for Hyundai to showcase the facelifted Tucson. This updated model gets a lot of redesigned elements and a BS-6 compliant engine. However, the facelifted model that is already on sale in the Philippines market has a Euro-5 compliant engine. The new model is expected to be launched in India by April 2020.

The 2020 Hyundai Tucson showcased at the auto show has some of the latest styling updates, like LED headlamps and new front bumper. Other changes include dual-tone alloy wheels and the inclusion of LED taillights.

Mechanically, the 2020 Hyundai Tucson is fitted with the same engine as its predecessor. The 2.0-litre petrol engine makes 152 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque, while the diesel variant churns out 185 PS power and 400 Nm of torque. However, despite using a similar capacity engine, the Philippines-spec petrol model makes 155PS/192Nm figures, while the diesel makes 185PS/402Nm.

Inside the cabin, the 2020 Hyundai Tucson from the Auto Expo has six airbags, ABS, ESP and EBD. On the other hand, the model that we already have on sale here in the Philippines gets just two airbags at the front.

Other features from the India-bound Tucson are the infotainment system (BlueLink connection), Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, automatic headlamps and dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charger, etc.

Here in the domestic market, the 2020 Hyundai Tucson competes against the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-3, etc. However, it also locks horns against some of the bigshots in the segment, like the Nissan X-Trail and the Subaru Forester. It continues to employ the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0.
